This week in formula one, Max Verstappen has yet again expressed his disdain for sprint races, with the reigning world champ threatening to walk away from the sport if it becomes too much. with a champ, explaining that he is all about surviving and not racing and that is not worth taking a risk when you have a quick car. Max also went on to indicate that he does not believe that sprint races form part of the DNA Formula One, and then by holding too many, they risk changing the fabric of the sport altogether
Meanwhile the Redbull PR team are working overtime to quash rumours of an ongoing rift between Max and Checo, with Perez claiming there is more respect between him and Max than what we, as fans, believe.
Mercedes CEO & principal Toto Wolff has shut down speculation that technical chief James Allison has returned more active role in the design of the W14 and the teams ongoing ground effect issues that have plagued them for the last two seasons.
Alpine were said to be debuting upgrades in Baku that would allegedly provide them with an additional 6/10, however after Gasly and Ocon’s spectacular crash at the Melbourne Grand Prix the team have had to shift their priorities meaning that it is likely that we won’t see these upgrades until later in the season.
Speaking of crashes, Haas team principal, Gunter Steiner has revealed during his two years stint with the team and after unceremoniously being dropped from Formula One grid in 2023, Mick Schumacher racked up a damage bill of more than $3 million. And while this figure is excessive, this doesn’t excuse the way in which Mick was treated by his team principal are in the external factors that would’ve come into play, including the quality of the cards of the team produced. I wholeheartedly agree with Toto regarding his statement that if Michael had been with Mick, during his time at Haas, he would not have been treated in such a manner that he was.
Charles has had to make a disturbing statement on his Instagram regarding fans showing up to his apartment, unannounced and harassing him and after his home address was leaked online. This is sparked concerns for the Ferrari driver’s safety and well-being. It is concerning that such a statement needed to be made in the first place and why fans felt the need to attend his place of residence in the first place in violate his privacy on such a scale.
